PPRUNE reports the airline will be basing a DH8D at ABZ
from March 2012.
There is also a 4th schedule from S1
2 for BHX
, but with an ABZ
-originating a/c. If I recall, it leaves ABZ
1025. If it is using the above a/c, there will be gaps for it to do other things.
Interesting times, & I wonder if this is the first shots against bmi R (or what bmi R will become) &/or Eastern.
Aren't you also due to get a based E175 there next year?
A source has told me that Flybe intend to also increase freq on the MAN
route from 3 to 5 a day M-F using the extra Dash, along with the extra BHX
No doubt this is "parking a tank" on the bmi Reg lawn, to put the squeeze on them, given that MAN
is bmi R's main route out of ABZ
Quoting Richard Taylor, from a previous post
Flybe intend to also increase freq on the MAN route from 3 to 5 a day M-F using the extra Dash
Or could well be that given a MAN
Dash 8 has 2 spare ABZ
length slots after the NWI
route was transferred to Loganair, could easily be operated by a MAN
So, basically, there could be substance to the rumour given there is space in the system at both ends to operate the route......
Well, rumours of a second DHC8 going into ABZ
Now showing 5 MAN
flights from Apr during weekdays, with Flybe basing an extra DH8D here soon. These are the times loaded into the Flybe website:
: 0645, 0850, 1555, 1755, 1935
: 0825, 1000, 1530, 1910, 2110(n/s)
Presume the gap between the 0850 & 1555 depts is when it operates ABZ
There was one rumour of a 2nd DH8D coming to ABZ
to be based, but not heard any more about that so don't know if confirmed or just gossip.
But no doubt putting the squeeze on bmiR so will be interesting to see if they react - I think bmiR had 6 rotations to MAN
a couple of years back, but I don't think it's that now.
So much for expansion! LBA
being dropped for summer, at least. When are Flybe going to undetake a PROPER expansion at what is now Scotland's fastest growing airport??
