In the early forties, I was well into spotting. My father was a spotter fot the Grimsby Docks, water board and the ralilway and his spotting post was on the 'Tip', a hill from Cooporation Road to Imingham. The Grimsby trams used to run from Cooporation Bridge to Immingham. One evening, my father took me to the class that was run for the men and I was given a list and I got them all right, I was made a temporary spotter warden! I stuck to Aviation, my National Service was in the Royal Artillery and soon after demob, I joined the Royal Air Force and joined 617 Squadron (The Dam Busters) Did 6 Months detachment in Malaya. Back in civvy street, I joined Air cadets in Warrant rank for 27years. Happy days, now 82 and still going strong.
