I was watching the Hainan Airlines 767 on approach to BHX
when I noticed an unusual aircraft call sign DARK011 close behind heading towards BHX
from the East Midlands direction. This aircraft was given at about 21000 feet at about 400 knots but as the Hainan turned onto its final approach to BHX
the DARK011 had dropped down to 11000 feet in no time at all and came down to about 4000 as the Hainan was just about to land before disappearing from PlaneFinder! Could it have been military (USAF) shadowing the Hainan??
According to libhomeradar, the call sign DARK011 was being used by a USAF McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle (91-0307) flying out of RAF Lakenheath.
