We usually meet most mornings, roughly around 7am as I chuck the cat outside, a quite rumble overhead and met by the Thomson 787 whispering overhead with those big bright pulsing Led lights. However this morning same routine only tis a bit murky up there, again not much noise and cant see a darn thing up there pesky clouds.
What was strange is that the whole clouds were pulsing bright red and white for some considerable distance, moving away from me but glowing, what was this a UFO in Bolton, nope a 787 trying to be one.
Was quite a phenomenon, never seen this before, it some ways quite eerie. And was half expecting the local media to have reported strange glowing things in the Bolton sky's.
Jut thought I would share this with you all pity I didn't have me recording device with me, next time maybe.
sorry for digging this thread up, not been arouind much
The 787 has LED
lighting that replaces strobes, so instead of a flashgun effect they actually stay 'lit' longer. The new types are a high output design that gives a longer pulse of light instead of a burst.
Same sort of thing as the new car bulbs. They just look 'different' but for other reasons. Much more effecthve than strobes too as they put out these longer pulses of light and make the plane more visible.
